Multiclip with HDCAM? Possible?

First my setup - brand new G5 2X3ghz intel Dual core, 8gb 67mhz RAM, KONA 3, FCP, 5.2.1, Ciprico RAID capable of pushing/pulling 300+mb/sec video, video= HDCAM footage digitized @ 1080 10bit 4.2.2
Now I have tired to make a multiclip sequence and edit it but it is not working? Is it possible atthis level? We have 7 cameras and I thought maybe that is too taxing so I just made a 2 camea multiclip, and it still did not work? Sync is set to "open" A couple of times when I was making the cuts, I heard the audio change but no cuts onthe video? I saw the blue cut markers on the top of the timeline but when I stopped the playhead nothing was cut(audio or video) Am I missing something? Or is 10 bit uncompressed 4.2.2 just too much for this? If so any suggestions on how I could cut maybe in a lower res without damaging the original files and maybe rendering later? Or any other thoughts? Thanks!!!!

I found the multiclip a little confusing when I was first using it. I had a similar experience to yours but it wasn't because my video was too large...it just took a little messing around to figure out how it all worked. Even using the manual I had to re-do some things a few times to really learn them!
The problem you have is that you don't know what problems are those kind of problems and what problems are hardware-performance problems.
I suggest converting 3 different 2-minute clips down to DV resolution and starting a DV project and importing them.
Try to learn how it all works in there, where you know performance won't be an issue. I'm willing to bet you'll still have some of the same problems but you can mess around with it and learn everything there where you know performance isn't a problem.
Once you feel better about how it all works, go back to your HD project and try it there. Then you'll be able to better seperate the "I'm not sure how this works" problems from the "this HD video is too big" problems.

Yes, thanks, but I am already familiar with how multiclip works and have cut several projects on it already. However, those were all SD projects and this is my first time cutting in HDCAM. That is where I was wondering if 10bit 4.2.2 with seven angles was even possible? If the short answer was "no" then there is no need to look further into the problem, but if the short answer is "yes it is possible" then something is wrong with my settings somewhere and I just have not been able to find it.
Other thoughts?
I will continue to troubleshoot it myself, but thought I would ask the cow experts to see if there were some suggestions? Thanks!

OK here is more info:
When in my multi clip sequence I see the two camers, but when I hit play if goes to a full screen of one camera and when I cut between the two cameras it does not make the cuts.
In the multi-clip active tracks menu I have checked both audio and video? Help?

The short answer is NO.
Do the math: HDCAM bit rate =144Mbit/sec. per stream. Your disk array can put out 330 Mbit/sec. Theoretically, that will support two streams of HDCAM simultaneously. You want to run 7 at once? Not gonna work.
I'm not certain of these exact numbers, but it sounds like your drive set can't support what you're trying to do.

Correc on the seven camera cut, but I am also unable to just do a two stream multiclip either. I am having the same problem that i have seen a few others on here post but no one really has a solid answer??? Not sure why. It has to be a setting some where that I am ust totally missing? In multiclip I see the two cameras when paused, then when I hit play it goes to a full screen of one camera and I can not cut between the two? When I pase again there are the two cameras on the viewer again? Hmmm?

Ok, now I am seeing something that might be the reason. I just looked at another CPU with FCP and in the RT tab on the timeline I have a lot of setting options, including unlimited RT, Multiclip playback, playback video quality, etc. But in my new machine I do not have any of these, only "full quality" which is checked? So why am I not seeing all of these other options? I have gone thru my settings many times, my eyes are blurry and maybe I am just missing something right in front of me?????
