FCP upgrade codec issue
by Alex (alex) on Nov 6, 2006 at 2:39:22 am

i have recently updated to FCP Studio. (5.1) Wheni opened FCP, Blackmagic settings did not appear in audio video settings. i downloaded the latest driver 5.7.2 and restarted. All the rpeferences are now here.
Problem is that FCP keeps telling me it cannot see the Blackmagic 8bit PAL codec. This codec is definitely installed.
What i did notice, is that in Sequence settings, i have to choose between BM8bit(2VUY) and BM8Bit(DVOO). there is no option for BM8bit PAL.

A colleague mentioned to me that there is an Apple codec in FCP5.x that should be used in preference to Blackmagic 8bit PAL when choosing compressoin settings in the timeline and setting up audio video settings.

Is this the Apple Intermediate Codec?

thanks in anticipation,

Alex

Blackmagic Support: Why are there multiple 8-bit codecs?
Blackmagic Support: Warning message during driver installation

The Blackmagic guys also have their own forum on Creativecow, and they keep a close eye on the postings made there.
