Issues getting my Mac to create a file acceptible to my PC
by Joshua Weiss on Jun 26, 2006 at 3:56:47 pm

I have tried almost every single possible codec to export my file from the FCP system. I am trying to use it on a Newtek VT4 system which is a PC. I have 3 VT systems and have not been able to get the Mac to produce an acceptible file. What am I doing wrong?

look for an app called mpeg streamclip.

You can easily convert video files quickly and effectively this way.

You will have many more options with this and surely one of them will work.

RTV is the native file for Newtek VT4. However, it is very friendly to DV files and of course AVI's. For some reason though, none of the AVI's that I export from FCP actually work.

Are you exporting as DV/DVCPRO NTSC AVI (or DV PAL AVI as the case may be)? That should work.

I have tried all the available encodings with the exception of PAL.

[bockos] "
Change the .mov extension to .dv."

Does that actually work?

I don't know. Most PC software will read a photojpeg.mov you just have to render.

Yes, we export our DV movies from FCP and use Sorenson Squeeze running on Dell's to compress for the WWW. I would suggest changing the extension while still on the Mac.
