Poor quality when rendering dv in a mixed-format project

Hi. I'm editing a project where I have some photage shot with IMX and some in DV. I work the project as 8-bit SDI and I use a decklink blackmagic card for converting the IMX to standard signal. The IMX pictures looks fine but whenever I use, and render, the DV-material it looses quality compared to what it looks like originally on the monitor. So something is clearly not right in the conversion.
Any ideas?

Are you capturing the DV through your Decklink SDI or Firewire? If you are using firewire (and rendering), the field order of the DV might be getting messed up because natively it is 720 x 480 rather than 720 x 486 (as your 8 bit stuff is). Try moving it up one line in the motion tab, then render...then see what it looks like.

Again I use Pal and I've imported it through firewire and you're right it looks like some kind of field problem. I'm not sure when you say move it up in the motion tab what do you mean by this?

Double-click on your clip to get it into the viewer.... Go to the Motion tab and look at the coordinates of your clip. Sometimes your clip is adjusted one pixel up or down which can cause this problem. Other times, it needs to be adjusted up or down one pixel to correct this. I would have to say that FCP has automatically adjusted your video one pixel and you need to set these numbers to zero and re-render.

I've found DV captured over firewire and dropped in an uncompressed timeline looks fine - PROVIDED you have the correct field order set which may involve moving the clip up or down 1 line in the motion tab settings.

problem solved. Thanks guys for pointing me i the right direction. It did not work (strangely) with working in the motion tab. However, I choose the shift fields filter (under videofilters, video) and chose -1 that solved the problem.
