FCP ignores media end point

I'm trying to capture logged HDV video from a Sony HDV deck. FCP finds the media start point and begins capturing, but runs past the media end point and doesn't stop. I am capturing to a G-Raid external Firewire 800 drive via Firewire 800. Has anyone else had this problem?

Does your capture preview on your Computer monitor freeze up? Sometimes the firewire but gets bogged down and FCP will lose deck control and not stop capturing at the out point of your media, but I've never had that happen without the preview freezing up first.

no, nothing freezes up. The media end point is just ignored. I can esc normally and capture is aborted.
I'm using a brand new 4 x 2.5 GHz G-5 with 4.5 GB RAM and FCP 5.0.4.
I modified the capture settings to capture NDF time code, otherwise I am capturing just like FCP was installed.
Thanks.

[capnrock]"I modified the capture settings to capture NDF time code"
You can't capture NDF if the tape wasn't shot NDF. It doesn't matter what you've shot in any case, it all edits into the timeline the same. I'm not even sure how you did what you dd, but perhaps your outpoint doesn't even exist in DF, so FCP just passes right past it. Whatever setting you changed, I'd put it back and see if all is well.

Thanks for the responses. I (and I'm ebarrassed) had i-link turned on on my deck. At worst, maybe this will help somebody else who's green with this deck like I am. Sorry everybody.
