(Off Topic) Whats your Music Library of choice?

What is your music library of choice? Our contract is about to expire and I would like some fresh thoughts on a music library. Thanks!

Killer Tracks has a collection offshoot called Atmosphere that's pretty hip. Most of it, from what I can gather, is produced in the UK giving it a pretty fresh sound. I guess it depends on what kind of work you do.

Here is a listing of my public bookmarks. Select the Sound Libraries and Design public folder.

Sounddogs.com seems to be pretty popular around here.

Enjoy,
Bryce

It's only free if you're using it for a NATIONAL tv broadcast or a feature film. To quote...

"Other than for National Network Broadcast content per our Terms Of Use, using Freeplay music in conjunction with or to promote a revenue generating business, product or service either directly or indirectly (such as free giveaways) requires a direct paid Master Use, Master Recording, Synchronization license with Freeplay Music. "

I used to think it was free too since it came with .mac and nowhere was a license listed. No links their website or freeplay company either. I just thought apple had bought some sort of fledgling music library and made it free. NOPE. They're pretty much just like all the others unless you're using it for big time broadcasts or films. Otherwise, there's fees involved if you're using for corporate, etc.

I've looked at a lot of libraries, but keep coming back to Firstcom. They have a huge selection and it's now all downloadable on their website. I think they have over 10,000 cuts. I also like how they database their cuts...it's pretty easy to find everything.

We have a moderately sized Firstcom library and have small collections from Five Alarm, Extreme and Blue Fuse to supplement. The Firstcom is a blanket monthly rate while the others we use on a per drop basis.

Hope this helps...

If you want the best (and most expensive) go with Firstcom. They have it all. Most of their selections are split tracks. When my Firstcom contract was up I decided to go with someone else and save a few bucks & I've regretted it ever since.

We use TunEdge. We met the top dogs in Vegas about five years ago and they sold us on their library. Check them out at www.tunedge.com. They also have a really cool online catalog for searching and downloading their music.

I have over 1000 CD's here from about 15 libraries, and my favorites are extrememusic.com and directorscuts.tv

Another smaller library I've been using a new one called Slam, which is a part of Networkmusic.com. Their needle drop fees are a little more reasonable than the first two libraries.

I'll give a second heck yeah to Atmospheres library. Extreme Music's directors cut is also a winner. I also have a soft spot in my ear for Video Helper. The Video Helper Noise Generator library is amazing for sound effects, too.

Fresh music has some good stuff, and the price is great.
