Wierd codec issues
by Jacob Benjamin on May 5, 2005 at 5:17:49 pm

So I have a sequence with renders upon renders and I goto export some clips out of it. The sequence is Black magic 10 bit uncompressed. and I am exporting using qt conversion. And an error pops up saying that I am missing the codec. the weird thing is that if I duplicate the sequence the export works fine? I am on a dual 2 gig g5 with a gig of ram and a black-magic card

[Jacob Benjamin] "the weird thing is that if I duplicate the sequence the export works fine"

To paraphrase the converse a famous saying, "Then just DO that!"

Chances are that this is just a one-time problem, and/or its unique to your particular set-up.
If you can work-around it, go ahead.

BTW, unlike with AVID, in FCP there are no "renders on renders"... every time you add a change, FCP will create a totally NEW render (of the affected frames) using the original clips and sources.

ALSO, you might try an "Audio Mixdown" before you attempt your export (yes, even though your problem is with VIDEO).
