Hello, working for a company and we're delivering a project in a few hours. We've just gotten our sound mix back from audio but the audio drifts on one machine with FCP 7 and on one it lines up perfectly, the problem is that the computer it's not working on has a plug in on it we can't move to the other computer we need.

We've trashed prefs, checked our sequence setting, took off our plug in and can't find the difference between the two machines. Anyone know why drift would happen on one FCP and not the other?

Is the sample rate correct?

Yes, it is. Otherwise it would also drift on the second machine.

Basically this is the set up we have.
One drive with one audio file and one audio file on it. Take it to the computer without the plug in - works fine.

Take it to the other computer with the plug in (the same two files on the same drive) suddenly there is a MAJOR audio drift with or without the plug in turned on.

Er... one video clip and one audio clip. Sorry, typo.

FC has a very well known bug that makes drift audio when the sequence when you edit the audio has a different time-base than the default sequence (Easy Set-up).

So if you have your default sequence for 29.97fps, you makes a 23,98 fps sequence and you import audio and edit on the 23,97 fps sequence, the audio will drift because FC considers that that audio has a 29,97fps time base.

The easier fix is to set a default sequence with the time-base you intend to edit the audio, before importing the audio.

[Rafael Amador] "FC has a very well known bug that makes drift audio when the sequence when you edit the audio has a different time-base than the default sequence "

It will even map the waveforms on the timeline incorrectly, so even if you line up sync pops or other markers, it still won't play in sync.
