Hello,
FCP 7 was running fine until after I updated my system software to Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Now FCP 7 crashes during start up every time I've tried to open it. It crashes while loading video effects but it is never the same video effect that causes it to crash. Does anyone have any advice as to what I can do to fix this?

Did you just update Snow Leopard versions? What were you on before?

10.6.8 was just a small update for FCPX users to use the apps store and had nothing for FCP7 users so if you were on 10.6.7 you didn't need to update.

Thank you for your response.

I did a software update on Snow Leopard, I was on 10.6.7 before I did the update. I needed the update to download iTunes 10.7.

Should I back up my macbook pro and reinstall snow leopard? Or are there other options that I can try?

I just bought a new Mac Pro and have been running Avid Symphoney 6.1, and the whole Adobe CS 5.5 suite just fine.

I needed to do some Final Cut work so I installed my FCP 7. I swear I opened the project yesterday and at least looked at it. But today FCP crashes every time I try to start it.(Maybe I just installed and didn't launch)

I've searched all over and can't find any solutions. One which might have been similar was about 3rd party plug-ins. But I haven't even installed any yet.

Can anyone suggest anything? Thanks

Try repair permissions. After any software install it can often create permissions issues.

First thing I wold do is move your effects and media to a different location then startup FCP. If it starts, there is a corrupt plug-in or video clip. Digital Rebellion has a great utility to find most problems.

Viola Indeed! Wacky because if I did open the project I didn't do any editing or anything, so I didn't presume preferences.

Thanks!
