I shot video on a Canon XH A1 but am importing into final cut pro using a Canon HV20 as the deck (both are HDV cameras). The HV20 shoots 1080i just like the XH A1 but does not shoot at 24p and, obviously, has lower quality video than the XH A1. If I use the HV20 to import the footage (which was shot 1080i 24p), will the master .mov file lose any image quality or will it be identical to a file imported on XH A1? The HV20 plays the tapes just fine. Just want to make sure that im not losing any quality in the process.

It'll be fine. It plays back the tape just like the other camera would. And via firewire, that's a pure data transfer. Doesn't matter what camera you use to capture from.

I find it odd that Canon never made a deck. But the Sony decks work.
