BLU-RAY burning (pal/ntsc?)

Hello,

I've got a project in final cut pro we shot on a 7d, that i'd like to out put to blu ray for festivals across seas (Australia and Lebanon). Wondering if blu-ray has the specifications like dvd. does pal and ntsc matter? if so how can i output the best possible output for pal?

There is no NTSC/PAL in BD. what frame rate did you shoot? Here are the specs:

High Definition Video (frame size x frame rate x interlaced or progressive) (frame aspect ratio)
1920x1080x29.97i, 25i (16:9)
1920x1080x24p, 23.976p (16:9)
1440x1080x59.94i, 50i (16:9) AVC / VC-1 only
1440x1080x24p, 23.976p (16:9) AVC / VC-1 only
1280x720x59.94p, 50p (16:9)
1280x720x24p, 23.976p (16:9)
Standard Definition Video
720x480x59.94i (4:3/16:9)
720x576x50i (4:3/16:9)

When I use encore to make the bd, the.option.of ntsc and pal is present. As well.as in encoder, when I convert the clip from.fcp to mpeg2. We shot 23.98 1080p. I believe. Canon 7d

Make it NTSC and encode 23.98

HD is not PAl neither NTSC, but has NTSC-land time bases (23,98fps, 29,97fps, 59,94fps) and PAL-land time-bases (25fps, 50fps).

PAL-land DVD players are able to play NTSC DVDs but NTSC-land DVD players are not able to play PAL DVDs.
No idea if PAL BLU-RAY players are able to read NTSC-land BR discs. I guess yes, but before mastering your movie at 23,98fps you should have clear if this is possible.

so let's say i made an blu-ray witha ntsc 23.98 fps video file, will it not play in australia?

Yes....it will play

PAL land players play all framerates....it's only the US players that don't

I had a project from Australia that was shot 25i and the client needed it to play worldwide. I had to convert everything to 29.97. Next time I made sure they shot 23.98 :)
