ripping YouTube videos with MPEG Streamclip

Hi,
Didn't know which forum this would fit best, but thought it might get seen here quickly...
I've been ripping YouTube videos with MPEG Streamclip for years, but in recent months I seem to get the error message "File open error: can't open the file" most of the time. Anyone know why this is? Did YouTube change their parameters so it won't work anymore? I've tried other programs to do this, but the videos never look as nice and I can't encode it in XDCAM codec to match my sequence with any other program I have tried.
Any thoughts on this issue? Or am I the only one who has ran across the problem?
And no need for scolding, I have one of the few situations where this is legal and ethical to do...

They did change things. I resorted to using the latest FIREFOX and a plugin from it to save YouTube videos. They come in as MP4s...and I then convert those.

Isn't it illegal to rip Youtube videos?

[Jason Coleman]"Isn't it illegal to rip Youtube videos?"
Depends on how it is used, just like how you can use something recorded from television illegally. Doesn't mean no one should be told how to program their DVR.
Thanks Shane, I will look into that plugin.
Anyone have a comparison opinion on VLC vs. MPEG Streamclip?
