Just curious..

I have Log and Transferred 2 64GB P2 cards in FCP7 that were full (the even wrote over to the second card in my camera)

After I logged and Transferred the MXF to MOV files with FCP I have found that what were 63ish GB sized CONTENTS folders are now 51ish GB sized folders filled with all the MOV files.

I thought maybe they were compressed, but when I compare any single MXF file to its MOV file copy, the MOV file is slightly larger - which was a relief - since I don't want any compression.

But I am curious why the overall folders are smaller after the L&T.

Anyone know?

There are other files on the P2 card that might not come over, like ICONs and PROXYS. And if you recorded 8 channels of audio, but only imported 2...that might be it.

[Shane Ross] "d if you recorded 8 channels of audio, but only imported 2...that might be i"

That made sense until I checked it and they were the same!

But then it dawned on me. I shot at 1080 24PA. I'm guessing the advanced pulldown would reduce the overall sized of the data I shot?

Yes...it will remove frames....thus the file size will be smaller.

Good catch.
