 | 720P24 down to SD for DVD real time TC dubs
by Nate Stephens on Feb 25, 2012 at 11:21:58 pm |
The client just decided she needs our 720/24pn on time code dvds for her other partner to help with the edit.
We are shooting 2 to 3 days (8 hr days) a month of Power Points for this client. This week alone we logged 509GB of 720p on P2 cards.
I have a Kona Lhi card. Is there a way to drag a days worth of MXF files into a FCP7 time line (we have Calibrated software for realtime MXF playback) and play them real time out thru the Kona card, downconverted to SD so my Panasonic DVD recorder can do a compressed 3hr DVD record/burn????
Is there a better way to do bulk HD to SD TC dvds / dubs ???

Can't beat real time. Just put the tc reader on the clips and hit play. Turn off the dropped frame warnings and set the rt playback for unlimited. This is an external stand alone DVD burner, right? Analog in and hit record?

Yep, that is what I thought ... just that simple... Maybe I have the setting wrong on my AJA Kona LHi card.
It does not want to down convert the 720-24Pn mxf footage in the FCP7 timeline.
It plays out SD and HD downconverted just fine using the AJA TV player. (No SD FCP projects handy to test)
Does this all have to be pre-down converted using a FCP render or compressor?

Um, did you actually SHOOT 24pn? It won't help a whole lot if you didn't. Especially if you shot 29.97, in which case you have a LOT of work in front of you.
You see, you didn't give us a lot of information to make a diagnosis.

Sorry Dave, I thought that I had all the details.
We are shooting HPX500s-P2 @ 720PN24..
720PN24 is supposed to be the most data conservative setting right.
The MXF files show up in the info panel as Quicktime DVCPRO HD 720p60.
I do have Calibrated software that rewraps the MXF files as quicktimes..
