Hello all,

Quick one: Anyone notice an odd bug where you make a 59.94 720p sequence and you get "Codec not found" error ?

If I switch the sequence to 1080i its fine again !

Any thoughts ?

James

The 720p timeline is 59.94 fps. Perhaps the codecs from AVID don't support this rate. Do you have the latest DNx for quicktime codecs on your ssytem?

Yes, 2.3.2 installed.

Do you get the same error if you set-up a sequence at 1280 x 720, 59.94 ?

I have never tried 720p 59.94 as I live in the relatively painless world of 25 fps PAL broadcast. I will fire up the computer and check.

Yep same here (codec not found). If I change the frame rate to 29.97 it is OK with 720p but not at 59.94

Actually it is not OK at any frame rate on further testing in 720p

Yeah, thats what I get as well. Its not consistent and seems to knock out any further ideas. Maybe roll back to an earlier codec package ?

I tried AVID meridian codecs and they work. Basically I can't get any DNx 720p codec at any frame rate.

Well I couldn't either. That's truly odd.

Here's my workaround. Make a ProRes 422 720p 59.94 sequence. Put the footage into it. Use that as your source, then use another sequence with the same settings for editing.

I wonder why that happens? Odd.

That seems work ok, its also ok to work full 1080p (!). Thing is, I need to make deliverables for an EVS system.
They are demanding 720p DNxHD which then dont import properly on my end and dont seem to work for them either.

I really think there is a problem with the new(ish) drivers. Seems crazy that no-one tested this with FCP !

If anyone has experience exporting or working with DNxHD .mov workflows, id love to hear from you

Unless you're watching Superbowl obviously ;P

Hi,

Actually , the latest version of the Avid QT Codec is v2.3.7 and you can download below

http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=423319&ssdFilt...

I think if you upgrade to v2.3.7 it should fix the issue.

I just tried a 720p59.94 DNxHD FCP7 Sequence and it worked for me here.

I hope the above helps!

Cheers,
Greg

So yeah, the above fix totally worked. Seems like its amazingly hard to find these drivers when you need them though so spread the word.

Its still impossible to play the files back in digital cinema full preview mode though but hey...Maybe its just me
