Hello,
I am editing on Final Cut Pro 4 and am trying to export 2 min long projects as independent movie files. Yet when exporting as a Quicktime movie using Quicktime conversion it wont save. It either gets to 79% and stops and doesn’t go any further or it gets to 100% and stops and then freezes my computer. Very frustrating. I have tried all compression settings yet it still doesn’t work. Would like to save projects in best quality and am about to move interstate so need to back up all my work.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It may be because many different reasons.
You may have some corrupted data. You can only be sure about this by exporting QT Movie (no QT Conversion).
Also your HDs may be too full.
[kathryn ward]" Would like to save projects in best quality and am about to move interstate so need to back up all my wor" If you are trying to do an export with quality, avoid QT Conversion. Export your sequence with a good codec.

As long as you keep all your project files and media
you have it all saved. Just clone the drives to
back them up. And like raf said check your hd space.
Delete old render files for more space.

Hi,
I am saving to my external harddrive which has 754GB still available. I want to finalise all my projects so i can get rid of all the media and render files that go along with it.I also want to save it as a quicktime conversion so i can make it independent of final cut pro. Any other ideas?
really appreciate the feedback

[kathryn ward]" also want to save it as a quicktime conversion so i can make it independent of final cut pro." Hi Kathryn,
The usual way of getting this is exporting a" Self Contained QT Movie" from FC.
No QT Conversion.
Qt Conversion is normally used to export draft copies, videos for the web, Audio etc.
For mastering your movie avoid this way.
