can you preview HDV on SD monitor?

bought to buy an HDV camera, like the HV20 or HF10.

Can i preview when editing on an SD monitor?

What is your editing setup? If you have an I/O card that can down convert on the fly from HD to SD with composite or component video out and your monitor has compatible inputs, the answer is yes.

no I/o card. just running through firewire through a dv camcorder.

Hi,

Yes you can preview a HDV timeline through firewire device, as long as your dv camera has dv IN, final cut pro will see it as a playback device. just assign video playback to DV under view menu and it should work
