Are there commonly-used techniques for creating a time-lapse video in FCP other than just speeding up a clip? I'm making a 1.5 minute video out of 3 hours of footage. Thanks for any feedback.

The best time laps technique is actialy to not aquire via video. The best way to do time laps is with a DSLR camera on manual settings with a timer remote attached. The timer remote let's you set how often you want a picture taken for example once a minute or once every 30 seconds. You then take the picture files and you combine them into an image sequence on the computer.
There are no "technical solutions" to your "artistic problems".
Don't let technology get in the way of your creativity!

Thank you for the helpful feedback, everyone. Yes, I already have the footage. So, from what you're saying, Roy, I will take one freeze frame every 20 seconds or so, then string those together. Correct? Gee, this won't be tedious at all. But, unless there is some plug-in I don't know about, it seems like the only way.
