offlining feature 2k prores media @ 23.98. how do I get the 2k timeline out to a regular plasma for viewing...have Kona 3, also have Blackmagic Decklink, which we were using, but it crashed the FCP trying to go 23.98 to 59.94 out. i don't see a similar setting on the Kona view settings...
installed latest Kona drivers and software...although now that I think of it, i never uninstalled the BM stuff...gonna try that and see if maybe there was some conflict...
but what would be the correct settings to monitor 2k out through the Kona to a 1080p Panasonic plasma? TIA..

The Kona 3 manual tells you to unistall drivers for other I/O cards. They also give you a conflict checker application which you should run after uninstalling the BM drivers.
You will find the output settings for the Kona 3 in the AJA control panel. If they are on 1080 output, they will display 2K files down converted on the fly to 1920 x 1080. There are some check boxes in setup for 2K and RED compatibility.

Kona installer did not ask to uninstall anything...but when I opened the FCP, there were no BM codecs...and I did run the conflict checker...and it didn't find anything...
the BM driver was still there, so i uninstalled them with the uninstaller program...

For the Kona 3, most of the settings you need to look at are in the Kona Control Panel. I think you can set the crop or scaling there, and you can also set your 23.98 to 59.94 conversion.
With the Decklink, you need to change your playout setting in FCP to 2k 23.98 to 29.97i or 59.94P. This is done either in Final Cut Pro menu, choose Audio Video Settings, or all the way down at the bottom of the View Menu

okay, so with the Kona...I didn't see any 23.98 to 59.94 conversion in either the view settings in FCP or on the control panel...but i ended up having to stop my testing short since the client who wasn't supposed to be in, came in, lol...figures...
we have been running the BM card with the 23.98 to 59.94 conversion in the view settings...but we've been having problems...we get crashes every so often...and the canvas and output on the plasma both go green....
we have been getting around some of this by sending the output to the preview monitor...(we use a 24" LED Apple Cinema Display for editing, and have a 30" Apple HD...)and that works well, but when others are in to view...they use the plasma.
one other issue we have been experiencing in....you guessed it, drop frames...playing back 2k media on our san drops frames every so often....a workaround that I'm going to tell the editor is to edit in 1080p 23.98 instead of 2k sequences...that may help dropped frames....
