XDCAM Export from FCP Audio issues.
by Luke Henry Vanden Bosch on Sep 15, 2009 at 1:27:57 pm

I'm exporting a 1080i60 XDCAM HD sequence using the File>Export>Sony XDCAM menu. I'm on a Mac Pro using Final Cut 7.

in my sequence settings if I select Stereo downmix I am presented with all audio downmixed to the left channel only. and if I select Channel grouped I get mono channels on left or right.

I see all over people saying to pan the clips to 0 to get them stereo, but that doesn't seem to work for me. I have also tried Option Command R to downmix audio on timeline but I get the same result when I export.

Thanks.

Only mono channels supported when exporting like that.

Here is the Sony XDCAM Whitepaper. Page 16 describes the procedure on how to export a master back to the disc.

http://pro.sony.com/bbsccms/assets/files/micro/xdcam/solutions/FCP_XDCAMHD....

Sequence settings must be set to 4 channel Mono

Each audio track must be routed for the XD Cam Disc Tracks 1 thru 4. Default is odd tracks to Audio 1 and Even tracks to Audio 2. If you want individual tracks to route to the Discs tracks 3 & 4 you need to do it manually on your Timeline.

Hope that Helps.
