strange when rendered

strange when rendered

while stepping thru a gradient wipe frame by frame, the effect looks fine - once rendered, the effect becomes wonky...its got a greenish hue to it and looks corrupt...

i am using a png file created in motion as the grayscale gradient...its actually the canned smoke effect from motion, exported as a png - current frame...

sequence settings are hdv...footage captured basic hdv...

working in fcp 6.0.5

thru fcp sequence window on computer screen...are u thinking i need to be viewing on a broadcast monitor...
