Audio sync problems when exporting to .WMV or Quicktime
by Jason Siemer on Aug 11, 2009 at 1:21:47 am

Hey there,
Having a bit of an emergency here as the client is waiting on a file. I'm exporting out of Final
Cut Studio to a .wmv (flip for mac). When I play the file back, the audio seems to be "floating". It's out of sync in the beginning, then it gets perfect for a bit, then floats back out of sync. It's about a 5 1/2 minute clip. My sequence audio and clip settings are the same and that's why I don't understand what's goin on here.

As a side note, I recently trashed my FCP preferences so I'm thinkin perhaps something is not set up the way it was. I'm freakin out a little over here because the client is waiting for this file tonight so I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

-Jason

More info would be helpful. What's your edit codec? What's your workflow to produce the wmv?

I'm having the same problem with a batch export from FCP converting the several 40 minute files to WMV for a client.

I recorded with an external audio source at MP3 quality at app 44.1Khz along with the audio from the external mic to the camera at 48Khz.

The audio in FCP marches out just fine after some "tweaking", but when exported as a wmv, the audio is out of sync and faster than the video.

any ideas for export settings to wmv to fix this?

Thank you!

I'm exporting a 3.5 minute piece as a Window Media and the same thing is happening. Audio is late to start and then is fast. There was an upgrade to Flip For Mac lately. Did anybody notice this problem before or directly after that?
