audio speed changes won't play from upgraded FCP project

I'm flabbergasted! Audio speed change clip plays unrendered (with beep,beep, beep) in timeline but once rendered doesn't play... Audio plays fine in viewer window EXCEPT between in and out of clips... WTF! This is from a project file from a few years ago...(FCP 4.5?) Tried to export a QT clip of this from the viewer window to re-import...worked once with the wrong frame rate...now not working with DV NTSC settings. Any takers? Thanks, ad

Check to make sure they didn't become variable speed changes

they're still showing the percentage change 115%, 121%, etc.

16 bit integer 187.5 K/sec 48.0 KHz (I don't know how this voice over was recorded).

Find the clip in Capture Scratch
Take it into Soundtrack Pro
Change the speed
Export as aiff
Import into FCP

The alternative: waste time figuring out why it won't work
