Updating FCP

I'm trying to update Final Cut Pro 6.0.1 to the current 6.0.6, but I get an error message stating that "you can only install this software on a disk that has" Final Cut Pro 6.0.5. Well, the only update to be found on Apple's site is the most current (6.0.6), so I can't install updates one by one either.
This is so frustrating! I've searched for the older updates and can't find them. It seems kind of ridiculous that they're not available, yet I can't install the most current update without first installing the previous ones.
slightly OT - 6.06 update by Ryan Grevatt on Jun 26, 2009 at 3:56:21 am
are there any reported issues with the latest FCP update? I'm new to FCP and don't want to recommend that any of our editors make the upgrade even though this update is targeted at the computers that we're using (early 2009 Mac Pros). Any insight on how to implement these point releases would be helpful.

I haven't heard of anyone having issues, but you should always clone every system drive to an inexpensive firewire drive using either Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper (both are freeware) before any update or upgrade, and have those standing by in case an update does mess up your system.

Nah, I'm still on 10.5.6 and I've just managed the update. Too scared to update the OS mid project, but not heard anything bad about the FCP update, so just took a deep breath and went for it.
Still can't play real time HD 1080 properly, still get color shifts in and out of real time effects, still get colour shifts in and out of rendered effects and un-affected parts of a clip, still have inter-changing media through the same clip, still have....

Well, the update doesn't address that at all. That is more of a drive speed issue. FCP lowers the resolution of footage in order to play it without dropping frames. Fully rendered or no. And these shifts, do they show up on an external broadcast monitor? Or just the computer monitor? As we say...all the time...never ever judge the quality of your footage using the computer monitors.
What sort of HD footge? Codec? Where is this footage stored? hard drive type?
And this should also be available in the Software update...but I always like to download the full installers, incase I need to reinstall and get back up to a certain point.

Hello Shane,
I remember you posted a comment about sharing old app pro updates. Would you be able to help me with 2007-02 and 2008-01?
I'm going out of my mind trying to upgrade to be able to use Wraptor without much success. Every time I try to click 2008-02 it says Not recognised. I guess it's because I'm missing the above updates.
Many thanks for your help/
Viktor

Shane!!!!
Don't want to sound romantic but love you man!, been looking for this for 2 days now. I'm SO UPSET that you pay for software, you are the legal owner and they make it so difficult to do a reinstall of any kind.
I was arguing at the apple site ( and now everybody hates me) that this is one of the reasons for so much software piracy. The other day I ended installing a crack version from a friend for software which I legally own, simply because I could not reinstall it because of all the stupid key, registration day of year, lunar position etc.. requested for my reinstallation. For me, companies are as thieves as the pirates, when they let us in the dark when new OS's arrives.
I feel better now
Thanks for the link, lets see if I can get my mind back to editing...

The FC updates are call "Pro Application Update".
You need to install the "Pro Applications Update 2008-05" to be able to install FC 6.0.6 although I guess it should be by now a "Pro Applications Update 2009-1" or so when running the "software Udate".

The big questions is, why are you doing the updates manually? Why don't you use Apple>>System Update and just keep doing until everything is updated to the latest version?

That did not worked, I'm reinstalling from my original install disk on a new mac, I used the System Update which downloads the current version and which won't install because "you need 6.05" to install this software. Is an endless loop.
