Editing 1080p 24 fps footage
by Sean Meehan on Jun 11, 2009 at 2:20:34 pm

Hello all,
I'm running my new JVC GYHM100 and shooting in 1080/24p, but I've never worked with HD footage in FCP before. I was wondering if anyone could help me with my settings to make sure that I'm really getting the most out of the footage. Since I've never worked with HD footage before, I don't even know where to begin in terms of sequence presets and general settings for working in HD. I know that's a very basic question, but I just want to get my footage to run the way it should.

Thanks,
Sean Meehan

Well, if you use FCP 6, as soon as your drop the footage into the timeline, FCP will ask "Do you want to change the settings to match the footage?" Click OK and BOOM...done. All you need to make sure of is that your sequence settings match the clip settings, and the best way to do that is to choose the EASY SETUP that matches the clip settings.
