Final Cut Sync Issues after Rendering Full or Exporting
by Ben Finkel on May 29, 2009 at 1:50:58 pm

I have a 960 x 720 timeline with audio and video in 1080iHDV and another track with 720p DVCPROHD video and audio. In the timeline everything is in sync, but when I export it many different ways or just when I select Render Full, the 720p video moves out of sync. The in and out points are the same on the timeline, but the video has slid to the right about 8 seconds. The audio for both tracks stays with the HDV video. The HDV video is 29.97 fps and the DVCPROHD video is 59.94fps. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No help I'm afraid, except to say that you are not alone. I'm having the exact same problem with 720 footage slipping when rendered of exported. I'm going to need to find an answer pretty quick - and I'll keep this thread updated if I do.

--- Ok an update ---
According to cinema tools, this clip has a framerate of 29.96 - not the 29.97 recognised by FCP (and assumed for the render). I hve no idea where the 29.96 came from - something during the digitising I assume. We are going to re-dig and see if this happens again.
