Absolutely! Release date is June 10th.

There will be zero rendering if you have the fastest Mac and the new 10,000 RPM drives in your arrays.

There's a new voice command option where you won't need the mouse anymore and will be able to dictate your commands to the computer via USB mic.

New pricing structure will be $1,000 for FCP, $4,995 for FCP Extreme.

Of course this is what my dog told me last night and she has been known to fib once in a while.....

I love the Shuffle Edit feature. You just mark an in and an out in your sequence and Final Cut randomly re-arranges the clips over and over till you are satisfied with the results. Much less thinking that way.

Rock On! That's the best new feature I've seen in years. I can bill my client for 20 hours of work while I keep my Facebook page completely up to date. Awesome!

Yes but with the new facebook integration, updating your status with your frustration of your boss or client has never been easier. Plus your clients can now also leave comments on your edit via facebook.

Re: Final Cut Studio 3 - Facts
by David Roth Weiss on May 22, 2009 at 4:52:08 pm

Forget the rumors, here are the facts.

1. Some issues users wanted fixed will actually be fixed.
2. Some issues users wanted fixed won't actually be fixed.
3. Some new features users want will actually be added to the package.
4. Some new features users want won't be added to the package.
5. Some new features nobody will ever use will be added to the package.
6. Some new features everyone will use will be added to the package.
7. Some users will hail the new release as a great release.
8. Most users will be left wanting more.

So, as you can see, this release will be no different from any prior release of FCP, and it doesn't take psychic powers to figure that out.

[Dino Vince] "I'm looking forward to the new "Client IQ Filter"."

If you purchase the optional AJA Client IQ breakout box, you get the brain electrodes. You connect them up to the client before each session and based on their response FCP will either allow or not allow the edit.

I'm hoping it comes with the Producer Shock mode.....

I wouldn't be surprised AT ALL if nothing is announced at WWDC.

For all we know, FCP has been EOL'ed. No, seriously. For all we know :)

Highly unlikely anything regarding a Pro App would be announced at that event. If Snow Leopard is introduced as expected, then we might see some sort of an announcement on Studio 3 within a few weeks after that.

Re: Final Cut Studio 3

Native editing of EVERY codec, even ones that haven't been invented. AVCHD, MXF, BRAV, VOB...

Able to edit H.264, MPEG-2, Flash video from YouTube. Import DVD VOBs, edit out the small part, or add the small thing you forgot, and spit back out to DVD with no recompression.

Fixed media management? Customizable interface? No, they have better things to do, like add MORE STUFF!

New FCPMA...FCP Media Access. Insert any tapeless medium and a bin will open in FCP and all the footage will appear. Oh, wait, that's Avid.

Mixed format AND framerate editing on the timeline! NO rendering at all.

Added Compressor format that will make 2 hour movie small enough to be e-mailed, yet retain full quality. At 320x240 though. Bummer.

They bought the ASSISTANT EDITOR software from INTELLIGENT ASSISTANCE and have incorporated it. Now the software will perform the initial rough cut for you, while you run to Starbucks.

OH, and you can watch it do this on your iPhone.

I'm really looking forward to the full native support of codecs like BFD, WTF and LMAO. Unfortunately, LOL will not be supported in this release, although OMG support is rumored to be coming soon in a point release update.

I swear I damned near spit my morning coffee up all over my keyboard and screen reading this, Alan.

But thanks for getting coffee up my nose, man.

:)

It was time to clean up my keyboard anyway, although I won't be needing it now that Final Cut Studio 3's Mind-Meld features are coming.

Yes, without a doubt they are -- one box at a time.

Or you can get the site license.

With the new FCS3, a single box comes with the Care Bears interface but the site license comes with the Strawberry Shortcake interface and network gaming plug-in. (If you notice at the Strawberry Shortcake site, the only fruit filling missing from the game is Apple -- this, due to contractual limits awaiting the forthcoming WWDC announcement wherein it becomes part of the big roll-out announcement.)

Ron Lindeboom

PS: I forgot to mention that Apple will also announce as part of the WWDC that all of the Strawberry Shortcake videos were edited in Final Cut Studio 3. Rumor has it that Strawberry herself will take the stage at WWDC and take part in the festivities. Eat your heart out, Disney.

Re: Final Cut Studio 3
by Ernesto Crvalo on May 25, 2009 at 7:54:01 pm

Ok, this is probably going to get me in trouble, but I need to say it. I was at a conference the week before last and I met an old friend who is now a top CAE at Apple. He told me something completely unexpected: FCS3 will be skipped altogether. Apple will jump straight to "FCS4". This will coincide with the conclusion of the well under way process of Apple's acquisition of Adobe (creating the "Applobe" branch). The new version of the Studio will be the first to celebrate this merger and it will be called Final Creative Studio 4, or "F.CS4". It will contain an updated version of the current "Creative Suite 4" applications such as Photoshop, Soundbooth and After Effects (which will probably be renamed Motion Effects, eliminating Motion from the package, but he didn't have this detail). Premiere Pro will be once and for all discontinued. Across the board integrated translation protocols based on a revised fusion of XML, AAF and advanced scripting will allow for any project to be opened by any application, including through simple "send to" features, but retaining "export to" abilities. When I was about to mutter "that is madness!" he continued saying " - And that's not all." Apple is also buying the Foundry, and through this Shake will be revived as an eyeon Fusion with Nuke, and they will be called "Shuke". As I shook my head he continued: "I'm particularly excited about something else, though". Inside the "Final Creative Studio" there will be "Final Cut Pro" and "Cut Pro Tools", as Apple acquires the Digidesign branch off of Avid Technology. This will mean that from within a timeline in Final Cut you will be able to click on an icon (or press CMD+SHIFT+P) and open that timeline in the new Pro Tools. There will be no more need for "Export to OMF" or "Digitranslators". The same functionality will bring the project back to FC. Soundtrack Pro will be thrown into the garbage. I interrupted him shouting "But that's monopoly!". He insisted I was not seeing the bigger picture. He said Apple is going to make the Final Creative Studio available for KDE and GNOME linux distros, including Ubuntu, and that in this case the whole package will be free and open sourced. He concluded saying that Bill Gates was also behind all this and that in a trip to Nepal together with Steve Jobs they had seen a light that said: "Help humanity create art free of the capitalist constraints". So they are both throwing their entire fortunes in financing this enterprise, including R&D departments to keep it all up to speed over the next 75 years. Windows will be aborted. Jim Jannard was also passing through Nepal when Jobs and Gates were there (he was getting married, apparently), and in his case the light inspired him to make the Red camera now have its price reduced to simply cover production costs and to announce to the world the exact date and time of Scarlet and Epic releases. At this point in the conversation my friend had to go and I was left there flummoxed, and with a strange tic in my pinkie finger of the left hand and foot.

[Ernesto Crvalo] "Premiere Pro will be once and for all discontinued"

What will happen to Bollywood then? Will they have to use a REAL editing tool?

[Ernesto Crvalo] "the Red camera now have its price reduced"

And on the subject of the Red camera, I have it on good authority they will be releasing a camera specifically for the porn maket called .... wait for it!..... "The Blue" camera.

Don't worry Baz, the next FC will have at least two undo buttons.
BTW there is a lot of miss information about the next version name. Will be call "FCP 10th Anniversary".
"Snow Leopard" at risk by the climatic change.
