XDCAM Transfer

I imported clips from XDCAM Transfer tool (FCP>Import>SONY XDCAM) last week and when I clicked "import" the clips would show up conveniently in my FCP browser (then I had to change file name of course.) But I opened up XDCAM Transfer today (not through FCP, but by clicking XDCAM icon), and the clips open up into individual windows in FCP. Did I change a setting by accident? Can anyone recommend the best most efficient way to import XDCAM clips into FCP 6.5?

[sam ketay]", and the clips open up into individual windows in FCP" Hi Sam,
Do you mean that when you double click a clip its launch FC instead of opening with QT?
If so, just click a clip (don't open it) and type Comm-i to open the Info window.
Then in "Open with." select QT.
Click "Change All..".
Then all your clips will open with QT instead of FC.

hey rafael,
should i care whether it opens in fcp or qt? what was happening before i opened xdcam xfer today was the imported clips were going straight to my browser. which seemed great. now they're going into my final cut documents folder and also opening right away in fcp in a separate window over the viewer.

[sam ketay]"should i care whether it opens in fcp or qt?" Hi Sam,
I've set my system to open the clips with QT. Is very annoying that whenever I want to have a look to a clip launch FC.
Normally I import directly with the XDCAM Transfer Tool. I don't use FC.
When I have the clips in my HD then I open a project in FC and drag the clips I want to work with to the Browser,

Thanks Rafael. I set it so that my selected clips now 'import directly' into a specific fcp project. seems like the quickest easiest way. Not sure if that's putting anything at risk, but I have the latest download for XDCAM software, so I'm going with it. Many thanks, again...

Sam
Open XDCAM Transfer's Preferences window and under the Import tab uncheck the "Open imported files with (Final Cut Pro)" option. Now your imported clips will just import and not also "open" (in FCP)
Cheers
