New FCP rumor from macnn

Apple is indeed on the verge of releasing a new version of Final Cut Studio, new sources are said to corroborate. Although some sources have suggested than an updated Final Cut Studio suite could be announced on March 24th, people "familiar with the company's plans" are said to indicate that Apple is timing a release around the National Association of Broadcasters expo, scheduled for late April. Apple and some other major companies are not attending NAB, but the event is known for bringing major video-related product unveilings.
The new version of Final Cut Studio is said to be late into development, echoing suggestions that it was already in beta testing. Apple is also believed to be preparing an updated Final Cut Server, and possibly a replacement for Shake, its compositing software last updated in 2006. Another related product which may premiere soon is an updated Logic Studio, used in audio production and performance.

Crystal ball-gazing about Apple is a hobby.
So is reading the rumor sites.
if you look at the records of such sites, you can do just as well by guessing or throwing darts at a wall wearing a blindfold.
Most of those same Apple rumor sites totally missed last week's iPod and Mac mini intros. I mean, 4gigs for $80 with a form factor that is not much larger than a AA battery is pretty darned BIG news since there are 10s of millions of iPod users but only a million FCP users. None of the rumor sites even saw those coming.
When the long-anticipated FCP release happens, it will happen. And we'll all be surprised, tickled, pleased, disappointed, and angry.

Oooo...will the next version FINALLY be the EXTREME version we heard about? New Shake? Will it be called RATTLE AND ROLL?
I'm hoping for native editing of all major cel phone formats. And I cannot wait until the iPhone 3.0 comes out, I hear there is support for installing and FCP control interface on that.

Apple has never waited that long to ship a product. Usually they ship one month after announcement. FCS2 was probably the longest hold back and that shipped in June if I remember rightly.
All the best,

I heard from chumpborneveryminute.com that the next release will contain time-space bending features, so you can edit before you shoot, and take as long as you need to meet your deadline!
however, everytime you use the feature, you age 10 years, so they are still working that out

[Bob Flood]"however, everytime you use the feature, you age 10 years, so they are still working that out"
Oh that's just a bug that will be worked out.... oh never because we'll all be dead and then there will be no one to complain about it. Talk about continuous sales. 1,000,000 FCP users dying off every few months so they'll need a new crop to keep buying.....

Another interesting rumor is Apple just bought large production volumes of some 10-inch LCD screens from a supplier. Nobody knows what for, speculation is a competitor to the popular little notebook computers like the Acer, or some kind of tablet. A Kindle competitor is unlikely using that kind of display though. Maybe a pen tablet with visual surface? Maybe a control interface with configurable buttons, like an iphone stretched to typewriter keyboard size?
Me, I just want my %^#& BlueRay functionality in FCS and DVDSP. And drives to go with.
(You really didn't think I'd forget to keep poking that dead horse, did you?) :-)

Well, that's better than your iPhone running on a compressor. Just think of how long that extension cord would need to be. And the NOISE!
Hsssss......

So to sum up:
Mac innocent: "Oh boy oh boy, New final cut studio! Shan't I dream for just a moment?"
Jaded Luddites: "Grrrr, stop dreaming. You don't remember the pain of the Leopard rollout, the Final Cut Studio 2 rollout, or the the rollout of the horseless carriage."
Jim Cramer: "Macs new Final Cut Studio is a bust! Sell Apple stock now!!!".....(click click click of Jim Cramer buying apple stock on his unibody macbook).

New Features... by Will Griffith on Mar 13, 2009 at 11:24:13 pm
I think we will get a few new features and some integrated
video editing tutorials, kind of like Garage Band does with
recording artists.
Image this... every few minutes Walter Murch pops up like the
old Microsoft Office Assistant (paper clip) and asks if you would
like to save your project.

He keeps stopping you from applying the ripple dissolve as a "transitional device" in your masterpiece. I can see the thread now.

Re: The Shake replacement by walter biscardi on Mar 14, 2009 at 12:14:00 pm
[Arnljot Bringedal]"I mm sure the rumour about replacing SHAKE is true. "
Well, it was true two or three years ago when Apple told us they were replacing it and I believe the name at that time was Phenomenon. It was either one mention in an article or one press release from Apple and that's the last any of us has ever heard officially about a Shake replacement.
Since Apple only has a couple of beta testers for their Pro Apps anymore it's anyone's guess as to how good or useful it would be.
