Saving projects to harddrive
by Jason Kennedy on Dec 18, 2008 at 12:14:04 am

Hello,

I recently captured a bunch of footage onto my computer then transfered the files and project onto my external hard drive. Then I checked my harddrive to see if footage was saved and it is. My question is, I still need to import more footage for that same project, but I erased the footage from my computer to free up space, do I create a new project to capture more footage and drag it over to my external as well? And if so, will the two project bins be accessible?

It's kind of a silly question, it's just that I have over 60 tapes of footage and it's taken me some time to log them, capture them and am wondering if I am doing this correctly.

Thank you for your time on the matter and appreciate any assistance.

Sincerely,

Jason

If you assign your internal drive as the capture scratch then relink the files on the other drive to the missing media everything should link up just fine. The capture scratch is basically where all new uploaded footage will go and it is where FCP looks for media. But if you move the media it will look offline...just relink it to the external drive.
