Editing HD Footage
by Nate Hanson on Nov 10, 2008 at 6:09:35 pm

I'm considering buying a Canon XH-A1. Will I need a computer upgrade to handle editing the HDV footage?

Current:
iMac
2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
ATI Radeon X1600, 256 MB

Also a MacBook Pro with slightly lower stats.

Do I need a better machine, or will these work?

Nope...that will work fine. HDV has the same data rate as DV...it is the rendering and outputting that make HDV a bear. But you have an Intel Mac...should be fine.

Hi Shane,

Thanks for the quick response. With regards to my computer I own an iMac, only bought it in June. Will this work OK? .. do you think that website I found the Final Cut Pro 5 upgrade is a trusted site? and £489 a good price for it or do u think I could get it cheaper elsewhere?

thanks

Mirela
