Audio Issues
by John Nelson on Nov 6, 2008 at 5:41:03 pm

Before I reinstall the program (FCP6) and updates I want to know if anyone else is having issues with their audio, or if I just need another lobotomy...

The last few days I've had to re-render audio files on the timeline after adjusting the levels in the mixer. Now the mixer levels drop to inf but the timeline levels remain the same. If I click on the mixer I can adjust levels but have to re-render. And on and on it goes. Have rebooted, refreshed and am about to retire unless I can reach a solution soon....

Thanks,
Mac G5, Tiger 10.4.11, all the latest updates

On your capture scratch disk, trash the audio render files for the project. Then you can re-render the audio with no problems.

Hi Dave,
Just did that and 'no cigar'. Maybe the lobotomy is in order...

The only time I've ever seen this is when there are a lot of tracks stacked up. If any of those tracks are 44.1kHz audio as opposed to 48kHz, it happens faster. If that's not it, have you repaired permissions and trashed prefs?

You mean FCP didn't give you an error message? You should have.

"Hey, I got some audio render files missing! You need to reconnect media, pal!"

If you got that message, what happens if:
1) You quit FCP and open it again
2) Restart your machine
3) Shut down your machine & start it up again

If you DIDN'T get the message, it's a good sign that you trashed the wrong audio render files, and it's time for another try at it.

Sorry, I did get that missing audio files error message. But I haven't trashed my preference file yet so I'll try that and see if it works. I hear those lobotomys are a real pain...

Thanks
