Recently clients have been handing over 1920x1080 23.98 Apple ProRes HQ. On two back to back instances, both files were imported into FCP and the "Optimizing Warning" appeared. I've ignored the warning and placed the files into my sequences. Several times dropped frames were reported. Even though no other Apps were open, all other sequences were closed out and my system can playback Uncompress 1080 with out problems.
I'm curious if others have encountered this and can contribute their experiences. Also if I choose the Media Manager to Copy, will this "Optimize" the file and resolve my problem? Furthermore is there anything my clients can do ahead of time, prior to delivering?

Marcus,
Open a new sequence and drop one of those clips in and allow FCP to change the settings to match those of the clip. Then report back with your findings.
