Hey guys,

Here's my Problem. Im working with XDCAM 1920x1080 material and Film that has been transferred to Digi-Beta and loaded in at DV resolution using the kona. The XDCam footage plays at 23.98 and the Film at 29.97. Our sequence is set for 23.98 because most of the footage we are using is the XDcam, the Film is just B-roll. When we render and watch it back some of the film clips look steppy, while other films clips play smooth as day. We noticed that when we took a film clip that played smooth and re cut it back in later in the sequence that it was now steppy and FCP was removing different frames this time. So while our smooth clip's frame order is 21,22,24,25,27,28,00. The same clip inserted later plays 21,23,24,26,27,29,00. How do I tell FCP to choose one 3:2 pulldown for all. And why would it do this in the firs place?

I did go through the manual which I found to be litlle help, but maybe I missed something. If anyone has a clue as to whats going on it would be helpful.

Thanks!

FCP doesn't remove the pulldown well if you just drop a 29.97 clip into the timeline. YOu really need to reverse telecine the clip to get it to 23.98. But then it won't match with your digibeta timecode for when you re-capture...so that is a pickle.

You can still have the original 29.97 Non-Drop frame timecode embedded in 23.98 video.

Well right now we do have burn ins on the film footage so were not completely screwed. But what we've decided to try and do is move everything to a 29.97 sequence. So far its working minus a black frame here and there.
