Working with HD and DV footage in timeline
by Martha Shane on Sep 22, 2008 at 4:23:38 pm

Hi,

I'm working with both HD footage and DV footage in a timeline. Ultimately, for now, this is just going to be output to DVD. (Later, we will need to put it on a Digibeta.) My question is just, very basically, what sequence settings we should be using, and then how we need to correct the HD footage or the DV footage so that they will all be the same size and will look right when we output for the DVD.

Thanks so much for the help,

Martha

Use the standard DV firewire basic easy setup for you sequence. You can play HD footage in an SD timeline. When you add the HD footage to the SD sequence you will need to adjust the scale to fit the screen or do some nice pan and scan to move about the scene. You will have to render once you have finished your edits. Then you will export or Edit to Tape as you normally would any SD sequence. It works great.
