Trouble converting interlaced HD to SD

Hi,
I am having trouble converting non-PsF 1080i50 HD ProRes to PAL SD Anamorphic ProRes HQ without losing the interlaced nature of the footage. I am choosing ProRes HQ as the output codec to avoid the field order problems of going from HD to DV or DVCPRO50 PAL.
If I drop the HD footage in an SD sequence and render out as SD then it handles the fields correctly and I get a nicely scaled SD output, unfortunately, I lose some of my metadata ... it is also a rather laborious process (I'm going to have to do this for a lot of files).
MPEG Streamclip is also capable of converting and preserving the fields, it can also do batches. Unfortunately it also results in losing the reel number, and who knows what other metadata.
Exporting the clips from FCP using quicktime conversion or using Compressor results in deinterlacing through either field blending or line doubling.
Loss of metadata is a concern in case we ever need to relink the clips back to the HD files (which would in turn actually be recreated from archived AVCHD because it is a longitudinal project and we can't afford to keep all the rushes as Pro Res HD).
Anyone got any other suggestions?
If there was a single stage process for converting from AVCHD to an SD codec of your choice whilst retaining metadata (at the very least: filename, reel, media start and end) that would be even better.

I understand the problem with QT Conversion. No control.
I'n Compressor shouldn't happens like that.
Are you setting the Frame Control ON?
If you set Field Order As the Source, shoud look OK.

You're right of course!
Odd though, supposedly the default "automatic" option for frame controls turns frame controls on when you are changing frame size, and one would have hoped that it would have left the field order "same as source" ... but it seems that was too much to ask!

Hi saul,
I think that if you send from the FC time-line, Compressor will have no problem to keep the correct field order.
Anyway Saul, now when I use Compressor I do all the pre-processing in FC. Downsizing, pixels aspect changing, de-interlacing etc.
I give Compressor a .mov with all the attributes that I want in my final movie. Compressor only needs to transcode.
ie. when I make a video for the web I export from FC a 480x270/square pixels/deinterlaced 10b Unc .mov. FC can do all those processes as good as Compressor and in a fraction of time.
