Final Cut Studio 2.0 will not open after Tme machine restore

Hello,
I had a major internal drive problem yesterday and I needed to erase my internal drive and do a Time Machine restore on my system. All of the Final Cut Pro programs will not launch since the restore.
I ended up having to reactivate my Photoshop software and it opens with no problem. When I try to open Final Cut it will not give me a option to reactivate the software. It just refuses to open at all.
Has anyone experienced this problem?
Thanks for all of your help,
Mike

My system was experiencing problems starting up. It was taking several minutes to boot up. I ran Tech Tool Pro on my internal drive and it reported that I had a volume structure error (-4 ??) After attempting to repair the volume the drive would no longer mount and the the only way I could get my computer to boot up was to use the Tech Tool Pro "e drive."
I tried several times to repair the volume structure to no avail so I decided to erase the volume, reinstall Leopard and do the Time Machine restore.
Everything has rebuilt on my system. All of my files and programs are there. I just cannot get the Final Cut Studio and Aperture programs to launch.
I figure it has something to do with the software license key.
??
Thanks for all of your help,
Mike

This is admittedly a reach, but did you do all of the Leopard updates before attempting the Time Machine restore? Time Machine had issues until an update that fixed them, and I'm wondering if you maybe got caught by that gotcha.

Pro apps cannot be restored from backups. They must be reinstalled from the discs. They incorportae system level software that can only be put in which the installer.

Wow, then clones are still the best insurance, because the ProApps can be "recovered" from a clone for sure.

They can only be recovered from clones if you clone the drive back. That works fine.

Nope, that's not true if you do a true Time Machine Restore. As described in my previous post, I did this very thing about three weeks ago when our system went completely kaplooie.
Inserted the Leopard Install Disc.
Re-Booted the Machine
Chose the option to "Restore from Time Machine Backup"
Chose a backup from approx. 2 days prior to the system completely going down.
Let Time Machine perform the restore and re-booted.
I was editing immediately with the system up and running.
Time Machine really does work as promised, at least in our case, even with ProApps.

When I tried it I had the same results as Mike. No FCS applications would run.

Did you do a complete restore by inserting your Leopard Disc first and then choosing Time Machine Restore after the machine re-booted via the Leopard Disc? I did this about three weeks ago and everything restored beautifully. Compressor is more wonky since I did that, but that was to be expected as it's very unstable on all our machines at the moment.

I have stopped enabling Time Machine during FCP editing as it forces my FCP 2 to slow/freeze. A consumer app to be sure. In a professional environment, I have found the best fix is to put the offending mac on ebay and upgrade.

FWIW, we have three Final Cut Pro workstations and our Library workstation iMac all running Time Machine with zero issues. Not sure what to say about your situations, but definitely I would never recommending dumping a perfectly good machine due to a backup issue. At worst, erase the drive and start over.
