WHAT Capture Settings to Use?
by Ron DeJoseph on Sep 10, 2008 at 6:37:39 pm

Sony HDV 1080i Camera...

NOT SHOOTING HDV tapes...will shoot on DV Tapes..(don't ask why)

Ultimately, since there will be alot of footage coming from other sources...FINAL PRODUCT WILL BE 720/480...

Now, I'm just unfamiliar working with different formats/cameras/etc..Yes, i've been spoiled by working mostly with Beta SX with a Kona card...but i'm learning!

So...along with that above question...Sequence Preset should be???

thanks

that's what i thought and that's what i did last week...

FCP sequence settings should be? No...not in PAL...good ol NTSC...

I'm just concerned about it being a 16x9 look...how do i ensure that this isn't either 16x9 or squeezed?

I know this are probably stupid questions to you, but, like i said, i'm just starting to work with diff't formats, so please humor me!

lol..

thanks...

If it wasn't shot widescreen, simply don't put a check mark in the anamorphic box when capturing. If you already captured it improperly with the anamorphic box checked then go into the browser, scroll right until you see the column designated as "anamorphic" and uncheck the box in that column for each clip.

As far as editing, open new sequence and before palcing any video in the timeline change the seqq. seetings to DV NTSC, and again, don't place a check in the anamorphic box.
