audio lags after ac3 conversion

I have a client that wants me to make MGP1s for a Power Point presentation next month. They come from a program that has 5 1/2 hours of video on a dual layer DVD. She timed the shots she wanted to make into short MPGs by using her dvd player timer and gave me a shot list. I was also given source files for the DVD.
I only have M2Vs for video and AC3s for audio. I converted the AC3s back to AIFFs using Compressor so I could use them in FCP. The problem is the audio lags way behind or is faster (I am not sure).
Is there any easy fix for this? If not what wold be your suggestion for a work around?
What was supposed to be a days worth of work may turn into a week.

You probably should have ripped the video and audio files from the DVD as a DV file using Streamclip in the first place.
Since you didn't try the following. You converted the AC3, now use Streamclip to convert the M2V to a QT editing format such as DV. For trhe record, M2V is not a native QT editing format.

I will try that. At the time I didn't even have the DVD. She was waiting for it to get back from the duplicators. I have it now though.
My experience is that when using Streamclip it tends to dump everything down in an unusual order. I was worried that the time code she made with the log sheet I gave her would no longer match up with the files I am editing. It's a training tape with 7 independent videos coming off the menu. Of course having the DVD I might be able to just check her marks if I were to rip it with Streamclip.
I will try both your suggestions and see what I get. Thanks

I just did the same kind of edit with Streamclip. Make sure you use the Fix Timecode Breaks option. That should fix amy time issues. It did for me.
