Downloading from youtube for FCP
by jeff weiser on Aug 30, 2008 at 2:16:44 pm

Does anyone know how to download a video from youtube or a similar site using Firefox as your browser? I would need to be able to use it in Final Cut for a personal compilation of clips just for my own reference. Thanks

This is easy with the free "Video Downloadhelper" add-on for Firefox.

There are now many sites featuring "tube-based" video sharing services. Some of the downloading tools are site-specific. Tubesock, for instance (at least the version I have), can only access and save YouTube clips.
Allowing for user error, I may be doing something incorrectly or not fully understand it can be customized.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: "For crying out loud, read the freakin' manual."

I like MPEG Streamclip: www.squared5.com

Enter the URL for a quick download and then export in your favorite codec for easy editing.
