Replacing Audio that was removed from a timeline
by Ryan Rivard on Aug 28, 2008 at 7:26:50 pm

Hello All,

I'm currently editing a video and originally thought that I wouldn't need any of the nat sound the was present on my tapes. So, I pulled everything into the sequence, unlinked the audio and video and deleted the audio. Now, in hindsight I want to add the audio back in there. Is there an easy way to do this?

Not automatically, but you can match frame your video clips and add the audio back via 3 point edits.

Jeremy,

Thanks for the help, that's exactly what I figured out about 5 minutes before you responded. I was actually surprised that there wasn't an easier way.

Thanks Again
Ryan

For this very reason alone, I never delete the audio. It's much easier to leave the audio in the timeline, disable those tracks, then shrink the height of those tracks up to nothing (or close to nothing). That way if I need it, I can always resize the track height and enable the track.
