Hi,
Im wondering how I can get 4 audio tracks from my dvcpro 50 recording into final cut using firewire form a AJ SD 93E deck?
- Iv heard that "dv firewire only supports 2 audio tracks".
However when I connect the AJ SD 93E to an Avid with Firewire through a Mojo - I get all 4 audio tracks.
In Final Cut I cant figure out a dvcpro 50 codec that supports 4 audio tracks.

Hi Jeremy,
I´m not trying to get multi track out of Final Cut, but digitize 4 audio tracks from tape into Final Cut.
Do you have any ideas for me I am all ears.
What are you referring to regarding to setting up my sequence for four tracks?

Aha, I got ya. Sorry I misunderstood. If in fact you have four tracks on the tape and your deck is connected, hit control-q and choose dv50 NTSC, then open the log and capture window. Next, click on the Clip Settings tab and change the audio 'Input Channels' drop down box from 2 to 4. You will then see 4 tracks there and make sure they are all enabled (the little orb is bright green instead of dimmed). Should be good there.

Hi,
Just for the info.
I tested this: Logging a clip first, then modify -> Clip settings. Enabled four tracks and then tried to digitize.
Then Final Cut wanted to tell me:
"The connected device does not support the number of audio channels required to capture one or more of the selected clips. Try disabling the Used Logged Clip Settings option in the Batch Capture dialog, or modify the capture settings of your clips by choosing Clip settings from the Modify menu."
Is there an other DV50 Codec out there? - that uses Firewire?
I know Black Magic has one when using SDI input.

All right. Good to know you can capture dv50 as that's what your deck is sending. If you couldn't capture dv50, the deck would be set to dv (which doesn't handle 4 channels of audio in a way that you would want). I am away on location until midweek next week so I can't test on my own. My next suggestion is to menu through your deck and check out the audio controls. Make sure that you can in fact send four channels via firewire. I will dig up a manual and check. If that doesn't work, it's an FCP setting and we'll get through that one as well.

I´ll dig into the deck menu. However the box gives four tracks to the Mojo...
Have a nice time on location;-)
Looking forward to hear from you next week.

THanks, Andreas. I just rereead the thread and realized that your FCP is 5.1.2. That MIGHT be the reason but I am not sure. I will test when I get back to the office next week.
Thanks for the manual link, I will look that over too.
