Video/Audio offset whilst editing multiclip sequence
by Owen O'Neill on Aug 18, 2008 at 3:06:03 pm

Hey Guys,

I'm currently working on a ski video chopping up one 15 min capture.

I just finished the edit and started working on the transitions and I'm noticing that the results aren't lining up. I went to the start of the sequence and dragged out the file until the preview thumbnail matched the frame at the locator head and I have a 7.05 second offset from where my file is, and where fcp thinks it should be. I tried several other sections and the same things happened, with varying amounts of time (3 secs to 15 secs different).

I looked up video offset errors that are a resultant of working with a multiclip sequence and found this:

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1984

However this mentions that is was fixed in FCP 6.03, yet I am running 6.04. Any ideas?

FCS 2
FCP 6.04
G5 Dual 2GB PPC
3GB Ram
Tiger 10.4.11

Editing locally on an internal drive.

Cheers
Owen

Greetings,

If you look at either angle in the timeline, does one angle say it is variable?

What I have found (on occasion) is that for some reason, FCP makes one angle a variable speed and just slowly the video gets more and more offset.

Unfortunately, I have never found anyone else with this problem, and it doesn't happen all the time.
