um.. Audio follows Video???
by Ben Insler on Aug 14, 2008 at 8:03:41 pm

So, I thought I was running the new version of Final Cut at home - pretty sure I'm all up to date and running OSX 10.4. But, I just started working on a new machine at a studio (new as in just purchased and set up yesterday) - they're running FCP 6.0.4 on Leopard...

On the new system, there is NO audio follows video option. If you set your external video to all frames, and then switch back it back to off (or to some desktop previewing option), the audio still remains with the previous video out source (in this case, a Kona). So, if you want to turn external video off, you then have to re-route the audio separately through the MacPro output, or leave external video on and set the output settings to NONE. Otherwise, the audio and video travel through two separete outputs, and are out of sync (as they should be). On my home system, I'm sure the option is still there...

Is this some new "feature" to Final Cut, or is something wrong here?

Just curious. Thanks. Not sure why they'd get rid of "audio follows video" if they did...

Ben

It's still there for me under View > Audio Playback

Maybe it's time for the preferences to be trashed... this system's been running for... what? 10 hours. Nice!
