Every codec has a plus and minus. You should output a HD image if your going to post to the internet. When asking an open question try and state some parameters. I dont use lightwave much but when I do I use it for print work.

I always render out to 32bit TGA image files, whether it's for a still or a sequence, if the image is a render pass like diffuse, color, shadow, reflection etc.. It's all about "what happens if I want to re-animate something from frame xxx to xxx ?" or "the power went out.." - it would give you tears and red eyes to render to either QT or AVI for a week and ending up doing the riddle all over again. With images, you can start wherever you left off.
