adding effects to fonts

hello,
I have been having problems with my live type for the last few months and no one has been able to help me. The problem is when i try and add an effect/ motion transition to my fonts i get the spinning colored pin wheel that will not stop and I am then forced to quite the program. However I can use the entire livetype program i just can not add any . if there is anyone out there that could give me some help i would appreciate it.

This a very long-standing problem which I suffered from for about 12-18 months. LT was just broken for me. Apple don't seem to have acknowledged the problem publicly.

Lots of possible solutions there - none of which worked for me. You might be more fortunate.

However, having just updated to ProKit 5 and then FCS3 (from FCP 4.5), LT now works again for me. I don't know whether it was ProKit 5 or FCS that solved it however.
