I have a new Intel Power Mac G5 with 2.8Ghz octocore.
This is a brand new replacement from the Apple Store after my other one had a problem they could not repair. (The Apple Care Protection Plan really paid for itself this time).
I re-installed Final Cut Studio 2 and everything else I needed to get the system working and the only issue I seem to have is when I go into Live Type 2 and add a texture backgroud, nothing shows up.
Even if I open a previous IPR file that had the graph paper texure in it nothing is there.
I don't think the content is corrupt, because this is a fresh clean install.

Nope, I guess everyone in this world who updated their Quicktime 7.4.5 has the problem. If you want to use your IPR back, my suggestion is to downgrade QT 7.4.5 to QT 7.4.1 using PAcifist. And then open LiveType and export as media clip. (Will take space definitely) Since FCP603 doesn't work without QT745. U have to reinstall/update QT to 745.
But if you haven't started any projects. Pls don't update to FCP6.0.3. It will make your life misreable as it does to me.
Not a perfect solution but this is how my workaround on the problem. Wow twice Quicktime f**king up the end-users big time.
Don't they run a thorough test or something (BETA, GOLD) and then released to the public. Or is there something going on between the QT team and Apple that this update goes out and the users suffer?

I made the biggest sin in post production. Updating the FCP while on a project. Thought Apple won't repeat the QT 7.4.0 fiasco. I was wrong. The project is already 603 version. I will drop to FCP6.0.2 when I complete this project. That would be in a few days or so. The solution I use is a workaround to make sure the objective of delivery is achieved. A hassle but it's no sweat. Pacifist sure help a lot. Hopefully Apple will come out with 7.4.6 or something like that by then.
I definitely will register Pacifist once I got payment. life saviour. Will treat Apple Software Update like my Windows pal treat Windows Update now. "WITH EXTREME MEASURES"

When u use Pacifist , did u use update or replace? I use update to downgrade QT745 to 741. I use Pacifist again to upgrade to QT745 once I'm done with Livetype.

Version 7.4.1 should show all your backgrounds and textures. It seems the bad version is 7.4.5 (I am still using 7.4.1 and FCP 602 and have no problems so far).
