Files from Live Type Needing Render in FCP

How frustrating to have FCP seemingly demanding to render everything put out by LiveType. Any suggestions on why this would be? I did a piece last week and did not have this problem, I wonder why today everything imported into FCP from live type is needing rendering?

Can you say CODEC? LiveType outputs in the Animation codec (to allow you 256 levels of transparency) and FCP works in video (either DV-NTSC (or PAL), HDV or ProRes. Since the codecs don't match, you have to render them. That's why you DON'T render in LiveType, but just save and then drag the icon from the top of the LiveType Canvas window to the FCP timeline and do all your rendering there.

Huh? Drag the icon from the top of the LiveType canvas to the fcp timeline . . . How do you do that? First of all it's a little tricky getting the software screens not to hide the other, but even then I'm not finding an icon that is dragable. What's the trick?

Kent:
That used to work. All of a sudden, if I try to import non-rendered Livetype files, FCP crashes; if I render them, no prob....but also very time consuming. Any ideas why FCP would suddenly reject unrendered LT files?

Same here. Ever since the pro app update on 2/13/08, quite a number of people have suddenly had trouble with live type and fcp. No one seems to know what's up. Those that rolled back before the pro app 4.5 (I think) got back all live type ablilities. I lost all my objects and tectures. So far, not a peep from Apple, and this is near the end of April.
Seems whatever caused the problem, is beyond the computer programing skills of EVERYONE at apple.

What is odd is...I have not upgraded anything! I just occasionaly do a few videos for work. I'm running FCP-HD 4.1.2 on OSX 3.9. I was told if I upgrade my OS that FCP would no longer run. The only thing I did is re-load FCP last month after a full crash. I take it I am now stuck with rendering all the LT files.

I'm not familiar witht he older versions. I just got FCP last December, and only upgraded once, which caused the problems for me in livetype effects. I'm just waiting to see what happens with the next update.

Hello, read some of the previous posts. Any LT file will need to be rendered in FCP. You are importing animation codec files and they have to be rendered.

If you are having trouble with your textures, you might consider going back to Quicktime 7.4.1. There seems to be some problems with LT and QT 7.4.5 (and you might need to go back to FCP 6.0.2).
