No picture on time line
by donald gibson on Nov 5, 2009 at 3:12:01 pm

Scott, I have a problem with Sonicfire Pro 5. I am using it with Sony Vegas Pro 8.

When I import a program to add music. I put it on the timeline. . As, I drag the curser across the time line, I get no picture. I can drag the curser to a to a point, while dragging I see no picture.

When I stop the curser, there is no picture.
I do not get a picture until I press the space bar. As you know it then starts to run. This makes it very hard to add marks etc;.

I have download all the update from Sonicfire. I still have the same problem. What I am I doing wrong?

Thanks before hand.
Don

Sounds like the video might be in a format such as WMV or other compress formats that are not displayed until they are playing. Is that the case?

Scott the file I am importing is MainConcept MPEG-2
I must render the file in Sony before I bring it to Sonicfire. As far as I know that is the only way I can work in Sonicfire with Sony. If there is another way let me know. May be, I just work these things out best as I can. Please explain as simple as possible, as I am not smart on this stuff.

Thanks
Don

MPEG-2 is a format that we sometimes work with and sometimes don't. This is because we are using the Window Media or QuickTime player for video playback and if the MPEG-2 codec is missing, we can't play that video format. It would be better, since you are already rendering, to render out of Vegas as and MPEG-1 or QuickTime movie. You can make the file low-res and as small as you want since you are just using it as a reference video in Sonicfire.
