OK this doesn't really affect me, but would be nice to get working. This is the sam issue after a fresh install as well as standard checks- dick utility permissions etc. When I do the 'four photos in one' thing, it just takes a black picture:

The four pics show up in the thumbnail but not in the big thing (as above) nor in the actual jpeg at the root source.

Whilst Im at it, the little heart and flying birds effects for iChat and photo booth (new to Lion) seem to have black boxes round them- almost like there's something wrong with the original picture (I think it's like a gif made with quartz or somehting?
-Hoping its something I can do by just altering a file somewhere to correct it...

Again, this has happened twice, even with a fresh install, so please don't make reinstalling your first suggestion :)

Cool well no one replied, but an update in case anyone else randomly sees this:

I tried resetting disk perms, even created a new user, reinstalled iLife and various bits of software using Pacifist- I eventually made it al work, but regretfully ended up doing it by doing a clean install using another copy of Lion. I didn't even restore using Time Machine just in case it was a library file somewhere- I ended up having to manually copy everything from my Time Machine disk.

Anyway, no longer an issue for me.
